How to Replace a Battery on a Harley Davidson Pocket Watch

How to Replace a Battery on a Harley Davidson Pocket Watch

The Harley-Davidson pocket watch is made by Bulova, a Swiss watch company that also makes Wittnauer and Accutron watches. The pocket watch has a "snap back," meaning the back of the case snaps onto the case. This is the most common type of watch back and simple to remove when you need to change the watch battery.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Watch battery
  • Small screwdriver
  • Soft cloth
    • 1

Put the watch facedown on a soft cloth to prevent the watch face from getting scratched when you are removing the battery.

    • 2

Insert the tip of a small screwdriver, one that could be used for fixing eyeglasses, into the crevice where the watch case meets the pop-up watch case back. Be careful not to scratch the watch case. Wiggle the screwdriver to pop the case back up. You may need to use force to pry the case open.
When the case is open, you will see a rubber gasket around the outside of the case. You will need to put this back exactly as you found it before you close the case. The rubber gasket is one of the ways the case is waterproof.

    • 3

Locate the small round battery, then put your screwdriver underneath the battery to pop it up and remove it. Take note of which side of the battery was facing up, because you will need to put the new battery in the exact way.

    • 4

Put the new battery in the battery location using your fingers or a pair of tweezers. Turn the watch over to make sure the watch is working again before you close the case.

    • 5

Place the rubber gasket around the case, the same location you found it when you opened the case in Step 2. Close the back of the case and press it down until you hear a "click" to ensure the case is securely closed.
